Who is this chick?
It’s been quite an adventure from there to here. Lots of moving around as a child and always being the new kid in school. Because I was never from where I was, I was always the new kid— different and a little self-conscious. But being “new” was my way of life so I took the challenge and learned to be myself. Though I decided very young that I would one day leave and go to NYC to be a dancer I always had busy hands and was constantly looking for something to make. My grandma taught me all the requisite needle crafts of her day and I never left those skills behind.
A week after my 17th birthday I took off for New York to dance and live in the world of dance, music, theatre and found the tribe I had been looking for all my life. I was never a star but I was always involved, even employed and I spent the next decades of my life struggling to survive so I could live my dream.
Then I got married and had a son.
I threw myself into motherhood and the life that went with it. My time in my tribe faded into the past and I faced new challenges. When my son went off to school I tried to occupy my time (and busy hands) with all sorts of craft arts, teaching myself this and that and even opened an Etsy store back in the very beginning when we would meet in the Brooklyn office for coffee and cookies and talk about the future.
Out of the blue, I found a jewelry class to take and a new passion lit me up. I’ve worked hard to get to where I am today and I continue to practice my craft, learning, growing always seeing the different way. I have no fancy education but here I am with passion and skill ready to share my ideas about self adornment with you. Let’s have some fun.
